Campers earn their Scuba Certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course. The camp includes pool dives, open water dives, and a boat trip with extras such as an introduction to Hawaiian marine life and caring for the ocean with a shoreline clean-up at one of the local Kona beaches.

The Open Water Scuba Camp at Jack’s Diving Locker Offers Kids the Opportunity to Discover the Beauty of the Underwater World While Learning New Skills and Making New Friends.

Campers earn their Scuba Certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course. The camp includes pool dives, open water dives, and a boat trip with extras such as an introduction to Hawaiian marine life and caring for the ocean with a shoreline clean-up at one of the local Kona beaches. To get started the campers will complete online PADI eLearning at home before camp. Upon successful completion of the camp, students will receive the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification for ages 10-14 or Open Water Diver certification for ages 15 and up.

The PADI eLearning program allows you to start the PADI Open Water Diver course immediately with an on-line eLearning course.

Camp Information

COST:

  • $495 plus tax & materials
  • $230 paid directly to PADI for eLearning (PADI prices subject to change)

PREREQUISITES:

  • Ages 12 -18
  • Ages 10 -11 (participated in Seal Team program, receive Camp Director approval and based on space availability)

Camper numbers: 3 camper minimum

MEDICAL QUESTINNAIRE: Please review the medical statement ASAP. If your camper has a YES to a medical question, a doctor‘s approval is required. The Medical Approval Form to be signed by the Dr. and returned to Jack's Diving Locker only if there is a YES.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Any cancellations during the final 7 days prior to the camp will result in full charge for the camp.

NEW CAMPER ORIENTATION: Parents, please schedule an on-site orientation with the Camp Director prior to camp start date. Please note that all parents either have to set up an orientation or there will be a mandatory parent orientation on the morning of Day 1 that we will show the Youth Diving Video*.

WE PROVIDE:

  • Instruction, BCD, regulator, dive computer, tanks and weights

STUDENTS PROVIDE:

  • Logbook
  • Mask, Snorkel, Fins (rental gear available)
  • Swimsuit, Towel, Sunscreen, Dry Clothes, hat, rashguard
  • Lunch, Snacks, Water bottle (lunch provided on boat day)

PREPARATION:

Start the PADI Open Water eLearning program at PADI.com (or click the banner on this page)
Complete eLearning one week prior to camp start date

DAY 1: POOL DIVES (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

*- Camp Orientation with Parents (9 a.m. – 9:20 a.m.if not already completed)

Pool: Watermanship assessment – 10 min tread & 200 yard swim

Pool: PADI Open Water Diver SCUBA skills

DAY 2: POOL DIVES (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

Pool: PADI Open Water Diver SCUBA skills

DAY 3: SHORE DIVES (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

Prepare items for beach day – gear, logbook, hat, sunscreen, lunch, snacks, water bottle

Shore: Open Water Dives 1 & 2

DAY 4: BOAT DIVES (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Prepare items for boat day – gear, logbook, sunscreen

Boat: Open Water Dives 3 & 4

Log Dives, certifications issued upon completion
